The Second Coming: PUSH 2

With the Summer Special still selling well on the hot streets of London Town, there is another exciting release happening. Thanks to East London Press, there is now a second book of PUSH. Personally, I think this is even better than the first book. It is cleaner, smarter, wiser. If you have never read the first book or any previous issues of the literary fanzine launched in March 2013, then this is a perfect place to get yourself familiar.

I am proud of all 17 issues of PUSH and the first book. But this is definitely taking the game to another level. PUSH is also delighted to publish brand new work by John King. Since his interview in issue 12, John has become a passionate supporter of the mag, and just as important, a great friend. He wrote a superb introduction to book one and his continued association with PUSH is, I believe, a natural one.

There is again great prose, poetry, artwork and photography. Everything you get in the fanzine is in the book. And this time, I have even put in a contents page.

But if you can't wait to find out who is in the book - well, this is who is involved:

Kosmo Vinyl, Dickson Telfer, P.A. Levy, Michael Keenaghan, Joseph Ridgwell, Tim Wells, Simon Dent, Jamie Hall, Ian Cusack, Jared A. Carnie, Anneliese McMillan Gregg, Steve Finbow, Ford Dagenham, John King, Jim Gibson, Jon Tait, Kevin Williamson, Wayne Holloway, Dean Lilleyman, Martin Hayes, Anette Roller, Jenni Doherty, Raymond Gorman, Paul Reaney, Andrew Taylor, Craig Gibson, Thomas McColl, Gary Budden, Jose Aroyo, Janette Beckman and Paul Talling.

Not only will I be flying the flag for PUSH 2, but I'll also be wearing the t-shirt on the literary stage at Rebellion Festival in Blackpool on Thursday 6 August. I will also have a box of the PUSH Summer Special with me. Featuring interviews with Blueblagger, Thurston Moore and Johny Brown plus debuts from Robert Chalmers and J. Currie, Mark Sa Franko and Janne Karlsson as well as regulars Michael Keenaghan and Dickson Telfer. The Summer Special is only £2 when sold on the street. Rebellion should be a lively weekend and I can't wait.

Then it is all about PUSH 2 and Edinburgh. East London Press have ensured that the book is launched at the start of the Edinburgh International Book Festival. And where better to do this, than at the legendary Word Power Bookshop. There will be readings from Dickson Telfer, Kevin Williamson, Dean Lilleyman, Craig Gibson, Joseph Ridgwell + more to be confirmed. Afterwards there's the party + raffle at a venue TBC by the publishers. But I can confirm, yet again, I have provided superb prizes - check out any of the previous raffles - and there will also be the 3rd PUSH CUP. This time I am hoping West Ham will get third time lucky against opposition north of the border; having been beaten finalists in West London (to Chelsea) and beaten semi finalists in Derry (to Derry City). No doubt Forfar Athletic will end up comfortable champions.

PUSH 2 the book is out 5/8/15 and you can pre-order now by visiting the East London Press website: http://eastlondonpress.bigcartel.com

If you need a quick fix, there are still issues of PUSH 16 available and featuring P.A. Levy's dark and disturbing 'Deeds Not Words In Five Acts', the other half of Neu! Reekie! Michael Pederson makes his debut as does Peter Burnett and Geraldine Quigley as well as all the first team regulars you all know and love so intensely - Tim Wells, Michael Keenaghan, Ian Cusack, Joseph Ridgwell etc and there's the usual superb photography and artwork by Paul Talling and Jose Arroyo respectively, while I am grateful to Scott Huskins and Meghan Lilleyman for enticing Debbie to be on the cover for the first time and definitely not the last http://www.pushmagazine.co.uk/shop.html

And even though the PUSH Summer Special is not available from the PUSH website - which will be updated soon - you can order a copy for £3.50 (includes p&p) via Paypal payment at this link joe.england64@gmail.com
